Effective July 22, 2026
The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has announced a new 25% Section 301 tariff on certain products imported from Brazil.
The additional duties apply to covered Brazilian-origin goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, beginning at 12:01 a.m. EDT on July 22, 2026. The action follows a USTR investigation into a range of Brazilian trade practices that the United States determined to be unreasonable or restrictive to U.S. commerce.
What Importers Should Know
- New tariff: 25% Section 301 duty on covered Brazilian products
- Effective: July 22, 2026 (12:01 a.m. EDT)
- Applies to qualifying Brazilian-origin merchandise entered or withdrawn from bonded warehouse on or after the effective date.
- Importers should review shipments currently in transit and confirm whether affected HTS classifications are subject to the new duties.
Notable Exclusions
While many Brazilian products are covered by the new tariff action, several significant products are excluded, including:
- Green coffee
- Instant coffee
- Beef
- Aircraft and certain aircraft parts
Importers should review Annex II of the Federal Register Notice for the complete list of excluded products and applicable HTS classifications.
