As part of its 2022 growth strategy, Worldwide Logistics Group announces the opening of a new office in New Cairo, Egypt. This will be the company’s 25th branch office. A branch in Dallas, Texas opened in the beginning of March, and, in February, Worldwide Logistics opened offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Accra, Ghana.
Cairo, Egypt was selected as a tactical choice to expand due to its proximity to Cairo International Airport and because it’s just a few hours from Port Said, Damietta Port, and Alexandria Port.
“The Suez Canal, which stretches between Port Said and Suez, is one of the world’s most heavily used shipping lanes,” said Atilla Eren, Worldwide Logistics Group Managing Director of Africa who will oversee management in Egypt. “Needless to say, the Suez Canal is a critical route for our customers.”
The general manager of the Cairo branch will be Norhan Mohamed, a talented and motivated logistics professional with more than 15 years of experience from leading logistics and project management companies in Egypt. Ms. Mohamed recently worked for AOL International as a DSV agent responsible for air and ocean operations since 2006.
“We will be different than other 3PL agents in the area because we are more experienced and focused than our competitors and because we are connected to a US-based global leader in logistics,” said Ms. Mohamed. “I’m proud to be part of this firm,” she continued.
This office will provide the same services as most of the Worldwide Logistics Group branches including air freight, sea freight, E-Commerce, project cargo, and cross-trade.
Egypt produces all Worldwide Logistics’ industrial verticals including fashion, pharma, food, renewable energy, event and trade fair display materials, and hospitality and retail infrastructure.
“The is the next step in our aggressive plan to expand our footprint in Africa,” said Erdal Bilgic, Managing Director of both Africa and Central Asia based in Turkey. “With offices in Ghana and Kenya, the opening of Cairo now gives us a strong presence in the north, west, and east coasts of Africa.”
