Worldwide Logistics Group (WWL) has announced the opening of its latest branch in Istanbul, Turkey. The Group’s newest subsidiary, WWL Turkey Lojistik AŞ, is now operating under the direction of Managing Director, Erdal Bilgic. Mr. Bilgic is a veteran of over 35 years in the logistics industry having spent time with Fritz Companies, UPS Supply Chain Solutions and Fed X Trade Network.
WWL Turkey Lojistik AŞ will provide a full range of logistics services in Turkey, including air and ocean forwarding, custom clearance and land transportation. Mr. Bilgic said, “I look forward to working with WWL colleagues around the world to serve existing clients and develop new ones.”
Turkey’s largely free-market economy has a broad reach traditionally driven by textiles and agriculture but seeing a strong uptick in automotive, chemical and electronics. With an office in Istanbul, Worldwide Logistics is well equipped to handle its clients’ needs. WWL CEO Joe Monaghan explained, “as with all our growth, we see the expansion of our network into Turkey as client driven.”
Turkey is a rapidly emerging, high-growth market with a talented, young workforce and an advantageous geographical location. “We recognize the strategic importance of Turkey as a gateway to Central Asia,” Mr. Monaghan said.
The collaboration with Mr. Bilgic and the rest of the Worldwide Logistics Group team will strengthen the company’s supply chain services provided throughout Europe and Asia. “It’s exciting to reunite with Erdal as he is someone I have known and respected for over 25 years,” Mr. Monaghan said.
