Coffee importing and exporting have unique characteristics that set it apart in the realm of international trade including perishability and quality grading. Coffee logistics involves a complex process of transporting coffee beans from origin of cultivation to final destination, often involving multiple stages and intermediaries. Understanding the intricacies of coffee logistics, specifically in the customs brokerage arena, is crucial for businesses involved in the coffee supply chain.
Worldwide Logistic Group’s San Francisco office, formally P.W. Bellingall, Inc., has been specializing in the coffee supply chain for over a century. With generations of logistics and customs brokerage experience, we can ensure the timely and compliant movement of coffee beans across borders.
Founder Peter W. Bellingall first worked for the U.S. Customs Service in San Francisco after serving in the Civil War. The customs position was obtained based upon a recommendation letter from Ulysses S. Grant. He then founded P.W. Bellingall Customs Broker in 1872. Coffee became a niche business while handling The Folger Coffee Company which was also founded in San Francisco. Since then, the handling of green coffee imports became a specialty for over a century.
